Mindworks is led and staffed by people who have created, headed or worked for leading publications. Our company has a strong editorial culture that values good journalism. In our people, we appreciate the desire to learn and do a job well.
The selection process

For editorial positions, we look for people who understand and enjoy working with the English language. Reading and writing are among the favorite hobbies of those at Mindworks. We need people who are curious and are aware of what is happening in the world.
Through a defined selection process, we look for people who fit the company culture and have the required skills.

Screening

The first step of our hiring process is a screening of resumes to select people who have majored in English or journalism. Specialization or expertise in another subject is additionally helpful. We look for people with wide interests. At the same time, we prefer people who don’t change jobs too frequently.
Testing for skills

Candidates go through a 2-hour test to assess these skills:
• Writing
• Proofreading for common errors, grammar, punctuation
• Copy editing
• Analytical and logical ability
• General awareness
• Comprehension
• Writing headlines, decks and summaries
Interviews

A candidate typically goes through two interviews. The first of these is with the HR staff and involves broadly checking for alignment with company culture and skill requirements.
If selected, the candidate then goes on to a second interview. The interview is with the operations head and a senior manager and involves making sure there is a strong match between the candidate’s interests and ability to learn and the company’s requirements. Skills and knowledge for specific project needs are also assessed at this stage.
All new employees go through a period of training and alignment with our needs. The length of this period will vary depending on the candidate’s skills and experience.
